Prosecutors have filed charges against a man they allege stole nearly $100,000 from the Jamestown Country Club.

Prosecutors say they uncovered dozens of illegal transactions allegedly tied to 59-year-old Shawn Patrick Taft’s personal account.  Those transactions allegedly began in 2019 and continued through 2024 and included checks, credit-card payments, and gift-certificates connected to other customers.

Court records filed last week in Southeast District Court accuse Taft of taking more than $95,000 from the Jamestown Country Club over the six-year period.

Multiple outlets report that the investigation began after the governing board discovered financial irregularities including the payments that were tied to Taft’s personal account.

Taft is charged with felony theft of property and unauthorized use of identifying information.

He has not yet been arrested, with his arraignment hearing still pending.

Taft also served as Jamestown High School’s boys’ golf coach until earlier this year.
