Fire crews in Traill County battled a large grain-elevator fire in Mayville over the weekend.
The blaze broke out shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday at the O’Brien Seed grain-elevator complex. Multiple agencies responded as flames spread through the structure and sent embers across several blocks in town.
The elevator collapsed hours later, and crews worked through the night to keep flying embers from igniting nearby homes. Residents in an eight- to nine-block area were asked to watch rooftops and yards for spot fires according to local reports.
Firefighters remain on scene Monday morning to knock down hot spots, and sections of 2nd Avenue NE will stay closed while equipment and debris are cleared.
No injuries have been reported due to the fire, and investigators say they are working to determine a cause.
