USDA to Extend Disaster Relief Funding Applications

The USDA Farm Service Agency has extended the application deadline for the Emergency Livestock Relief Program (ELRP) to November 21, ensuring livestock producers affected by major floods and wildfires have more time to apply. The program will deliver roughly $1 billion to help producers recover from disrupted feed supplies and poor forage conditions. Counties with verified disaster events are automatically eligible without extra documentation, while producers in other counties can still qualify by submitting proof such as photos, insurance records, news reports, or NOAA data..

Producers may receive up to 60% of one month of feed costs for wildfire losses or up to three months for flood losses, using the same calculation method as LFP. While payment limits are generally capped at $125,000 per program year, producers may request an exception to increase the limit to $250,000 using the FSA-510 form. USDA officials emphasized that FSA offices are now fully open and ready to assist ranchers and farmers in accessing this essential recovery support.
