A man has been charged with killing his brother after a family-led search uncovered human remains on the Spirit Lake Reservation.
Federal prosecutors said Monday that 26-year-old D’Angelo James Hunt now faces a second-degree murder charge tied to the disappearance of his brother, Isaac Hunt.
Isaac vanished in March 2024 after leaving a relative’s home in St. Michael, and renewed efforts by his family prompted a major search this past weekend.
Relatives located a skull behind the property on Saturday, and investigators say they recovered additional remains and clothing on Sunday that matched what Isaac was last seen wearing earlier that spring.
Court documents outline evidence of a violent confrontation inside the home, including blood stains and DNA that investigators say connect both brothers to the scene.
Hunt is being held at the Grand Forks County Jail while the FBI and federal agents say they are continuing their investigation.
