A shelter-in-place order has been lifted in a Moorhead neighborhood following an investigation into a possible gunshot Wednesday morning.

Moorhead Police say an officer conducting a follow-up investigation in the 1800 block of 20th Street South heard what sounded like a gunshot around 9:30 a.m. and called for backup. Out of “an abundance of caution,” a large police presence responded, using a drone and BearCat vehicle to assess the situation.

Authorities issued a shelter-in-place notification for the area between 12th and 24th Avenues South, from 14th to 26th Streets, while officers investigated. The order has since been lifted.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and have thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation. More details are expected to be released soon.
