The Jamestown Public Works Committee unanimously recommended approval of the 2027-2030 State Transportation Improvement Plan Thursday, outlining millions in road projects, according to extensive reporting by the Jamestown Sun’s Masaki Ova.
Major 2027 projects include Business Loop West reconstruction, Highway 52 concrete repairs, and a $4 million mill and overlay on 4th Avenue East. The plan’s most expensive item is a proposed $12.7 million bridge overpass on 7th Avenue or viaduct reconstruction at 4th Avenue to provide emergency vehicle access during flooding.
The committee also recommended purchasing a $50,793 pickup truck for the fire department, which is on pace for a record 316 calls this year.
