Jamestown Police arrested a man Friday night after what officers allege was a slow-speed pursuit through several parts of the city.

Officers say the incident began around 6 p.m. Friday when Stutsman County Dispatch received a report of an SUV swerving and driving in the wrong lane near Sunnyside Trailer Court.

A Jamestown officer attempted a traffic stop a few minutes later on 10th Avenue Southeast, but the driver allegedly refused to get out and instead pulled away, starting a slow-speed chase through multiple neighborhoods.

Police followed the vehicle as it moved through southeast, northeast, and northwest Jamestown before it headed west on County Road 40. Speeds during the pursuit allegedly reached 50 to 60 miles per hour.

The chase ended several miles northwest of Eldridge when the SUV turned into a farmyard. Officers say the people living there had no connection to the driver.

Police took into custody 45-year-old Keith Meidinger of Eldridge on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving, fleeing law enforcement, and having an open container.
