Hours after another rough outing, Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy alerted team officials he was feeling concussion symptoms after the teams loss to the Green Bay Packers.
The team in response to McCarthy’s news, placed him in concussion protocol, and will be evaluated throughout the week to see if he will be available to play in Week 13 when the Vikings head to Seattle to reunite with last years signal caller, and who they replaced J.J. McCarthy with, Sam Darnold.
While the team awaits the news on if McCarthy will be able to go or not, rookie Max Brosmer will take the first team reps with the offense, in accordance to the Vikings only carrying two quarterbacks on their roster with Veteran QB Carson Wentz on the IR.
In 3 preseason games played in 2025, Brosmer completed 35 of 58 passes for 364 yards, and 2 touchdowns along with 1 interception, holding a 60.3% completion percentage, and a 91.8 passer rating. Brosmer also seen some time in the Vikings Week 8 matchup against the Chargers where he was asked to finish the game due to injuries to Carson Wentz.
Depending on the news of McCarthy, Brosmer could make his first start for the Vikings this week, and regardless will again shine a bright spot light on the Vikings decision to; Number 1, let go of Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones or even Kirk Cousins to get McCarthy in Minnesota, and Number 2, picking McCarthy who has had an injury filled career and has missed critical time in order to develop into a franchise quarterback.
The Vikings will head to Seattle for Week 13 with kickoff set for three pm, this post Thanksgiving weekend.
