Jamestown city crews will begin clearing residential areas tonight following emergency routes, with downtown snow removal scheduled to begin tomorrow night.
City officials say residential snow removal will not occur on days when garbage and recycling collections are scheduled in those areas. Downtown Business District snow removal begins Tuesday, December 2nd at 11 p.m. and will continue until finished. All vehicles should be removed from downtown streets, avenues, and alleyways.
The schedule is contingent on changing weather conditions, snow accumulation totals, and blowing and drifting snow. City ordinance requires property owners to keep adjoining sidewalks clear of snow and ice, and prohibits depositing snow on city streets—violations are a class B misdemeanor and will result in fines.
