The North Dakota Highway Patrol released details on a deadly two-vehicle crash in McLean County.

Troopers say an 88-year-old Bottineau man died in a Friday evening crash about six miles south of Garrison. The collision happened about 4:55 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 83 and 37, during snowy, windy weather and icy roads.

Investigators said the man’s Toyota Camry was eastbound on Highway 37, stopped, then entered the intersection where it was hit on the driver’s side by a southbound Hyundai Santa Cruz. The Camry’s driver, Gordon Lindquist, died at the scene.  Authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Hyundai’s driver, a 32-year-old Tioga woman, was taken to CHI St. Alexius in Garrison with non-life-threatening injuries. The Patrol says the crash remains under investigation and has not announced any charges.  The Hyundai was likely not required to stop at that intersection, but information on the speed the vehicle was travelling and specific road conditions have not yet been released.
