Vision Zero Promotes Older Driver Safety During Awareness Week

By Payton Gall Dec 1, 2025 | 4:22 PM

December 1st through 5th is Older Driver Safety Awareness Week, and Vision Zero is encouraging families to discuss how aging affects driving with older adults in their lives.

Winter is here, meaning dangerous driving conditions are here to cause challenges on the roads. Vision Zero reports 103 people age 65 and older have died in vehicle crashes statewide, including 32 in 2024. To increase safety, Vision Zero recommends that older drivers consider steps like limiting night driving or choosing familiar routes.

Vision Zero suggests families begin exploring future transportation options early to make sure older adults can continue traveling even after they stop driving. More information is available at VisionZero.ND.gov.
