Trump Administration Announces “Farmer Bridge Assistance” Program

By Ryan King Dec 9, 2025 | 8:02 AM

The Trump administration announced a $12 billion “Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) Program” to support producers facing high input costs, and inflation. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said $11 billion will go to commodity crop farmers and $1 billion will be reserved for specialty crops, with exact payment rates released by the end of December.

Payments will be based on planted acres and modeled losses, with a $155,000 payment limit. The USDA will provide pre-filled applications and emphasized that acreage reporting for 2025 must be finalized by Dec. 19. Crop insurance is not required but is encouraged under new incentives included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

President Trump framed the aid as possible because of tariff revenue and said it will give farmers needed certainty heading into the next planting season. Farm groups welcomed the assistance, emphasizing that many producers are struggling with low commodity prices and high operating costs.
