The USDA announced they will invest up to $700 million to help farmers adopt regenerative agriculture practices as part of the Trump administration’s Make America Healthy Again agenda.
The pilot program draws on EQIP and CSP funding and aims to improve soil health, reduce chemical use, and encourage whole-farm conservation planning.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. emphasized that healthier soils support long-term farm productivity and national health goals.
The initiative will streamline applications, measure outcomes on farms, and leverage private funding through efforts like the SUSTAINS Act. Officials highlighted partnerships with NRCS staff and agricultural retailers, even as NRCS staffing has faced significant cuts. The program also connects with broader health and nutrition policies, including new SNAP waivers that restrict junk-food purchases and increase state access to federal rural-health dollars.
