An 80-year-old Carrington man was killed Monday afternoon in a broadside collision involving a semi-truck six miles east of Carrington.
The North Dakota State Patrol reports the two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 200 and 74th Avenue Northeast. According to investigators, a 2019 Ford F-150 was traveling southbound when it entered the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound Peterbilt semi.
The 32-year-old semi driver from Washburn was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to CHI St. Alexius in Carrington for treatment. The 80-year-old pickup driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The force of the impact sent both vehicles off the roadway, where they came to rest in a field on the southeast corner of the intersection. The State Patrol is still investigating, but they did report that weather conditions at the time of the crash were good.
