Lawmakers in Bismarck could end Daylight Saving Time. House Bill 1259 states that the entire state would be exempt from Daylight Saving Time and would observe Standard Time.

This year, Daylight Saving Time starts in March when the clock turns forward and it ends in November when it falls back. The bill does not change the time zone boundaries of North Dakota. The House Transportation Committee did not take action on the bill despite little to no opposition as they need to check whether some of the wording needed to be changed.

The bill comes as part of a series of recent moves against Daylight Saving Time. The federal government attempted to pass a bill like 1259 back in 2022, but it did not go through.
