Highway 200, North Dakota
A bill to make North Dakota Highway 200 a memorial to fallen law enforcement officers has been proposed in the state legislature.
The bill would make the highway that runs parallel and north of I-94 the Fallen Peace Officers Memorial Highway. The road runs through towns from west to east such as Dodge, Hazen, Carrington, and Cooperstown. The Department of Transportation said in a statement that they plan on dedicating a mile of the road to each fallen officer, and new signage would be placed throughout the route.
Senate Bill 2277 is proposed a little over a year after Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Martin was killed in a high speed pursuit that involved Ian Cramer, the son of North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer.
