The longest tenured owner in the 4 Major American Professional sports has passed away.

Virginia Halas McCaskey passed away at the age of 102 on Thursday Morning, the longtime owner of the Bears had been with the team since 1983 after he father and founder of the Bears George Halas died and passed the team down to her.

During her time with the team, the Bears won a title in 1985 thanks to the vaunted “85 Bears” defense, and came up short of another one in 2007 when the team lost in the rain to Peyton Manning and the Colts.

The Bears will still be in control of the McCaskey family as her younger son George who took over in 2011 has just hired a new head coach Ben Johnson, and have a possible superstar quarterback on their roster Caleb Williams who showed glimpses of promise in his rookie year with the Bears.
