The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services is holding their “I Protect Pigs” photo contest to raise awareness and the importance of good biosecurity measures when working with pigs, and to prevent the spread of ASF otherwise known as African Swine Fever.
There is no current threat of ASF in the United States, but the awareness is brought to light due to the disease’s easy transmission through international travel and trade.
The “I Protect Pigs” contest is closing at the end of this week February 14th and entrants can submit up to two photos showcasing their best biosecurity practices, and their favorite pig through the contest’s website. The winners will be announced March 3rd following National Pig Day on March 1st.
