Popular Tuna Brand Recalled For Botulism Risk

The U.S Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall notification of a popular canned tuna brands sold at stores throughout the country.

The FDA says Genova, H-E-B, Trader Joe’s, and Van Camp’s brands of canned tuna are being recalled due to fears of botulism exposure.  Botulism is a form of food poisoning than can be fatal to humans and animals.

These brands are sold in a many stores, including Costco, Walmart, and Kroger-owned locations.  The recall affects Minnesota and Iowa, but so far does not affect North Dakota or South Dakota.   A total of 26 states are affected by the recall.

The FDA says parent company Tri-Union Seafoods voluntarily issued the recall.
