Twins Play Baseball, Split Doubleheader

After rain was falling on most of the upper mid-west the last few days, the Minnesota Twins finally returned to the baseball diamond to finish off the series with the Cleveland Guardians.

Minnesota and Cleveland completed Monday’s suspended game with the Twins winning in the bottom of the 9th inning thanks to a Kody Clemens walk off RBI that scored Ryan Fitzgerald. The Twins improved to 27-21 after finally getting to complete the game.

In the second game, a lack of play might have played a factor as the Twins would go on to lose game 2 of the afternoon 5-1, with little to no offensive production from the Twins.

The team was held to just 3 hits in the game, and the only offensive scoring was from a Ryan Jeffers RBI early in the third inning. Royce Lewis trying to find that spark to get going in 2025 went 0-4, and the team is still without two of their main stars Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton after the two were injured in a collision last week.

Starting Pitcher Chris Paddack went 5.1 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 runs striking out just 2. And the bullpen combination of Louis Varland, Griffin Jax, Cole Sands, and Kody Funderburk allowed a total of 4 hits allowing 3 runs.

The Twins fell to 27-22 on the season and will have an off day on Thursday before returning home again to take on another AL Central rival the Kansas City Royals. After getting 13 wins in a row, the Twins are looking to start streaking again, and hopefully with a normal schedule, and the return of two missing stars.
