Timberwolves Try to Keep Season Alive in Game 5 Tonight

By Ryan King May 28, 2025 | 2:00 PM

It may just come down to this.

After their close loss in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves in a deep deficit in their series with the Oklahoma City Thunder down 3-1, with the series shifting back to OKC for a pivotal Game 5.

With a loss the Wolves’ season will be over, but with a win, it leaves the possibility of Minnesota turning the tide and fighting back for a chance at their first appearance in the NBA Finals.

It will not be easy however, in Minnesota’s first two games of the series in Oklahoma City, the Wolves were ran and shot out of the gym being outscored by a combined total of 232-191. That margin is a little bit closer since OKC called off the troops and were waiting for the clock to hit zero.

Anthony Edwards will have the spotlight on him tonight, as the 23-year old superstar had a cold and tough Game 4 only finishing with 16 points in a pivotal game. Edwards has the chance to live up to his “Superstar” Name if he can will the Wolves to a win tonight, and perhaps get the upset and win the series.

Minnesota was in a similar situation last year in the Western Conference Semifinal round when they were facing another division rival the Denver Nuggets. Losing 3 straight games to find themselves in a 3-2 deficit after 5 games, but then winning the pivotal Game 6 in Minnesota before forcing and winning Game 7 on the road.

Crazier things have happened with much better teams in the history of the NBA playoffs, but tonight will prove if either Minnesota is a SERIOUS NBA Finals contender, or if they were just another bump in the road for the hopes of Oklahoma City’s Championship dreams.

Game 5 will tip off tonight at 7:30 from Oklahoma City.

Catch the full game recap and reaction tomorrow during the Buffalo City Blitz with Ryan King 12-12:30 on KSJB 600am and 100.1 FM.
