Pablo Lopez was enjoying another quality start as him and the Minnesota Twins were playing game 2 of their series with the Athletics.
Similar to a situation earlier in the season, Lopez made his way out to mound and did a couple warm up pitches before the next inning of play. He then showed discomfort signaled some discomfort, and was pulled from the game after 5 innings pitched with a pitch count of 72.
Lopez missed time earlier this season when he was pulled during a game and put on the 10 Day-IL after a lat strain that made him miss a couple starts, eventually returning until last nights incident.
As of the posting of this article it has not been made clear whether Lopez will be put on the Injured List, or how long he will be placed on it, the initial injury reported is “shoulder tightness.” Hinting at some time being missed.
No transactions have been made on the Twins roster, but presumably if Lopez is placed on the list the Twins will be calling up David Festa, or Simeon Woods Richardson who were sent back down to AAA.
The Twins will play Game 3 of the series tonight with Zebby Matthews on the mound vs Jeffrey Springs, with another late start tonight on the West Coast.
