North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong

Governor Kelly Armstrong is requesting a federal disaster declaration for North Dakota and the funds that come with it.   Armstrong’s request was supported by the entire state delegation, including Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer, and Representative Julie Fedorchak.

Tornadoes and severe weather have impacted nearly every county in the state the past month, with extensive damage to cities, towns, and farmland.  The governor’s office says damages are estimated at nearly $12 million from the storms since June.

The Dakota News Network reports that the Trump Administration has yet to respond to the requests, despite the first requests from the state delegation being sent on July 21.
