Storms, Possibly Severe, Likely Tonight in Eastern North Dakota

By Seth Dunlap Aug 5, 2025 | 9:48 AM

There is a high risk of severe weather across eastern North Dakota tonight.

The National Weather Service says the storms today should be less severe than over the past month, but there could be hail and 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts in southeastern North Dakota.  There is a small possibility of this storm intensifying tonight, and the NWS urges residents to have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts, and to keep your phones on and not silenced when asleep.

The NWS has also issued a Level 2 Threat warning for Friday for areas east of Bismarck, into much of northern Minnesota through the overnight hours.   The NWS says this storm could bring golf ball sized hail, wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour, and possible tornadoes.

The forecast for Friday will become much more clear by Wednesday night.
