A tragic accident occurred over the weekend in western North Dakota, ending two lives. A woman and child were killed Saturday morning in a T-bone collision at the intersection of Highway 85 and 23rd Street Northwest south of Watford City. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a Peterbilt truck pulling a trailer ran a stop sign on 23rd Street and struck the passenger side of a southbound Ford Fusion at 8:30 a.m. A 25-year-old woman and a 5-year-old girl, both from Watford City, were pronounced dead at the scene despite wearing seatbelts. The Fusion’s 24-year-old male driver from Watford City suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Bismarck. The 41-year-old truck driver from Tennessee was not injured. Criminal charges for the driver have not been released, as the crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
