The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened around 10 p.m. along 17th Avenue Northeast, about three miles west of Grand Forks. Investigators say the man’s Chevrolet Equinox became high-centered on the tracks before it was hit by an eastbound BNSF train.
The SUV was dragged about 60 feet. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
The Highway Patrol, Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Forks Fire Department, and medical services responded.
