The Bank of North Dakota has launched a Financial Assistance Loan Program for federal workers in the state who aren’t being paid during the shutdown.
The program offers low-interest loans through local banks and credit unions to help cover essential expenses until paychecks resume. Eligible borrowers must live or work in North Dakota and provide proof of federal employment.
It costs $250 to apply, with a maximum repayment period of five months with interest rates set at 2%
Governor Kelly Armstrong said in a statement that the program mirrors efforts used during past shutdowns to help families bridge the gap.
Applications can be made through participating lenders, with details available at bnd.nd.gov.
