Winter weather could turn dangerous around Jamestown tonight, with blizzard conditions possible into Thursday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Jamestown and Stutsman County from late tonight through Thursday afternoon. Forecasters say blizzard conditions are possible, with one to three inches of snow and wind gusts that could reach around 65 miles an hour. That will create widespread drifting snow and sharply reduced visibility.
The NWS expects rain to first develop later today, then change to snow tonight, with blowing snow possible after 3 a.m. and the worst travel impacts likely overnight and into the Thursday morning commute.
Drivers should plan for rapidly changing road conditions and possible whiteouts in open country. The watch means conditions are favorable for a significant storm, and updates could include warnings later today.
