Despite a full closure of Interstate 29 due to dangerous winter weather, a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper stopped a motorist traveling 104 miles per hour on the shuttered roadway Sunday.

The driver was clocked doing 24 miles per hour over the speed limit while an active closure was in effect. Because a juvenile was in the vehicle at the time, the driver now faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment.

In addition to the criminal charge, the driver was issued a $140 citation and assessed seven points against their driving record.
