A North Dakota Democrat is making another run for the state’s lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Minot resident and Marine veteran Trygve Hammer announced he is running for the seat a second time. The Democrat previously ran for the seat in 2024, losing to Republican Julie Fedorchak.
Hammer said his decision to run again is focused on issues including health care access, housing, and economic opportunity in rural North Dakota. His announcement makes him the first and only Democrat to formally declare for the 2026 House race.
Fedorchak has not yet formally announced whether she will seek a second term, as she currently serves the remainder of her first two year term.
