The Stutsman County Fair is set to host a pivotal stop of the “You Make THE Difference” Heartland Tour next week, offering a free professional development opportunity for the volunteers and leaders who power the region’s local festivals and civic organizations.

The workshop will take place on Friday, March 6, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Gladstone Inn & Suites in Jamestown.

The workshop takes place as rural communities across the Heartland report increasing challenges with “volunteer fatigue” and a shrinking pool of volunteers. Ian Hill is a record-breaking humanitarian known for his work in community building, and he designed this immersive session to provide practical, “ready-to-use” tools to help local boards thrive despite limited resources.

The Heartland Association of Fairs, Festivals & Events (HAFFE) secured a specific grant to bring this tour to the region. As noted in recent community forums, these events are more than just entertainment, they are the “social fabric” of the Dakotas, providing essential platforms for youth programs like 4-H and local economic growth.

Participants also gain access to a mobile app for 30 days of follow-up training and peer networking.
