The U.S. Agriculture Department has launched a new online guidance portal they say is aimed at making it easier for farmers, ranchers and ag businesses to find current USDA guidance in one searchable place. Officials say the site is a searchable, indexed database that includes guidance issued by the department and its agencies, and the portal is now live on the agency’s website.
USDA says the portal will be updated to reflect current operations across the department, including executive orders from the President Trump. These orders and other guidance issued by the USDA are not typically legal requirements or backed by legislation, rather the operational standards and priorities of the current USDA. The site states that guidance documents posted there do not carry the force of law unless specifically authorized by statute or written into a contract.
A previous version of the guidance portal was created by the Trump Administration in 2017 to reflect his then-Administration’s priorities.
