The Republican Party’s District 20 has selected Larimore farmer Dave Rustebakke to fill a vacant seat in the North Dakota House.

Rustebakke was chosen over the weekend by the district’s executive committee. He has not held elected office before, but he is familiar with the Capitol after spending eight years as legislative director for Farm Bureau of North Dakota.

Rustebakke will replace former Representative Jared Hagert of Emerado, who resigned February 9 to take a federal job with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency.

District 20 covers Traill County and parts of Grand Forks and Walsh counties.
