UPDATE: As of 11:35 a.m., the shelter-in-place order for schools has been lifted as it was determined there is no threat to the schools.

ORIGINAL STORY 11:18 a.m.: a lockdown and shelter-in-place orders are simultaneously occurring in Jamestown as Walmart has been evacuated and Jamestown Public Schools are currently in a shelter-in-place order.

An investigation is actively taking place at Walmart in Jamestown this morning; police have blocked the roadway entrances to the parking lot and have evacuated the store. Stutsman County Sheriff’s department is leading the investigation, but ND Highway Patrol troopers are assisting. A trooper told KSJB that the ongoing situation poses a serious threat.

Residents should avoid the area, as the store will be closed for an indefinite period of time today. A source from inside the store says that a “code blue” was issued this morning, which Walmart code information found online indicates is a possible bomb threat.

Superintendent Rob Lech sent out an email to families at 11:23 saying that there is no direct threat to the schools, and that learning activities inside the schools is continuing as normal. All exterior doors are secured. He indicated in the email that the shelter-in-place will not be drawn out much longer.

No further information could be provided at this time; check back for updates.
