ND Monitor: Six State Legislators Didn’t File Legally Required Financial Disclosures

By Seth Dunlap Apr 27, 2026 | 6:29 AM

A bombshell report this morning by the North Dakota Monitor alleges that six state legislators failed to file the legally required financial disclosures this year.

The Monitor reports the missing filings involved Senator Scott Meyer of Grand Forks and Representatives TJ Brown of Fargo, Gretchen Dobervich of Fargo, Lisa Finley-DeVille of Mandaree, Karen Grindberg of Fargo and Nico Rios of Williston.

Lawmakers were required to file annual statements of interests by January 31 under a 2025 law.  There is no state agency actively overseeing compliance.

The Monitor also reports some of the lawmakers submitted forms only after being contacted, while others said they planned to file after learning the disclosures were missing. The Secretary of State’s office told the Monitor it sent multiple email notices before the deadline, and state law allows late fees, though those fees are being waived for 2026.

Five of the six lawmakers named in the report voted for the bill that created the new annual filing requirement.

KSJB Radio has not independently verified the Monitor’s reporting. You can read the full story from reporter Jacob Orledge online at NorthDakotaMonitor.com.
