North Dakota Rep. Liz Conmy of Fargo died Saturday in a small plane crash in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
Authorities say the Beech F33A aircraft went down shortly after takeoff from Crystal Airport, where it crashed and caught fire in Southbrook Park near 62nd Avenue North and Florida Avenue North.
Police were called at 11:51 a.m. Officials say two people were on board, both died, and no one on the ground was hurt.
Conmy had represented Fargo’s District 11 in the North Dakota House since 2022.
Gov. Kelly Armstrong says North Dakota and U.S. flags will fly at half-staff on the day of her interment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, with the FAA also involved.
Conmy’s four children were reportedly not on the flight. Early reports suggest only Conmy and the pilot were on the plane at the time of the crash.
