Former Jamestown teacher Michael Romans was sentenced this week on charges of corruption and solicitation of minors involving an underaged girl.

Romans was sentenced to 30 months in prison and five years of supervised probation and ordered to pay $1,800 in restitution and received credit for 148 days already served.

Prosecutors said the abuse happened between 2014 and 2017 and involved a girl who was 16 and 17 years old. Romans worked at Gussner Elementary School at the time, and the Jamestown School Board accepted his resignation in January after he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The sentence will require Romans to register as a sex offender under North Dakota law.
