Valley News Live’s Kortney Arnold recently reported on a Jamestown family that was forced to build up their life from ash after lightning struck their home during a storm last year. The fire that ensued destroyed the vast majority of their earthly possessions. Darlene and Steve Wahl are located five miles west of Jamestown.
According to the VNL report, the Wahls went on a cruise last July, and on their way home, they received a call that changed their life. Their friends back home informed them that they believed the Wahl’s home had been destroyed in a violent storm the night before. Investigators discovered that lightning struck the home three times, and they told the family that they likely would not have survived if they were home. Luckily, the Wahl’s dog, was staying at another residence the night of the fire.
Valley News Live reports that it’s been a devastating process, but Darlene and Steve are rebuilding, and hope to move back in by the end of July. The family has a benefit account set up at a Jamestown credit union for those who wish to help them in their recovery.
