Jamestown man arrested after 115 MPH motorcycle pursuit and crash near Windsor

A 30-year-old man named Auston Peterson is in custody after he led law enforcement on a high-speed motorcycle chase in Jamestown on Thursday afternoon.

Reports say that officers initially attempted a traffic stop on a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on 1st Avenue at around 4:55 p.m.

Peterson then fled westbound on Business Loop West before entering I-94 West. Police Chief Scott Edinger told the Jamestown Sun that Peterson reached 97 miles per hour on city streets, eventually reaching 115 miles per hour on I-94.

Reports say Peterson exited at Windsor and continued to flee. North of the interstate, he failed to negotiate a curve on gravel and crashed. Peterson was initially taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center before being booked at the Stutsman County Correctional Center.

Auston Peterson was charged with fleeing (Class C felony), DUI (Class C felony), felony reckless endangerment, carrying a concealed weapon (Class A Misdemeanor), prohibited acts, and driving under suspension (Class B misdemeanor), according to police and court documents.
