Shared bike lanes could be getting a test ride in Jamestown.
The Jamestown Public Works Committee voted last week to approve a pilot program for a shared car-bike lane project. The proposal would use signs and painted street markings on 8th Avenue Northeast, mainly between 13th Street and 19th Street Northeast.
City officials say they are awaiting cost estimates for signs and paint, along with a finished layout. They also say that a planned project on 8th Avenue Northeast could conflict with these plans.
Planners say the route would connect to existing bike paths near the Two Rivers Activity Center, Ave Maria and the Jamestown Reservoir area.
The full City Council would need to approve the final proposal.
