An 84-year-old Burlington man was killed and a 68-year-old Tioga woman was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on crash on Highway 2 in Ward County.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened at around 2:30 p.m. at mile marker 136, about one mile west of Burlington.
Troopers say a 2020 Subaru Forester was traveling east on Highway 2 when it crossed the median, entered the westbound lanes and continued eastbound. The Subaru then struck a westbound 2026 Dodge Ram 1500 head-on.
The driver of the Subaru died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Minot.
The names of those involved have not been released yet. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
