America’s 250th birthday is tomorrow and several communities around the region are marking the Fourth with parades, music, food, racing and fireworks.
Great American Fourth of July Kiddies Bike Parade starts at 10 a.m. in downtown Jamestown. Lineup begins at 9:30 on First Street West, with the parade heading south on First Avenue toward McElroy Park.
The All Vets Club will host an All-American BBQ after that from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 116 First Street East.
The Jamestown Speedway hosts its Fireworks Spectacular Race Night. Grandstands open at 5:30, racing starts at 7 on Saturday. Fireworks are planned after the races at about 11.
Carrington’s America 250 parade starts at 5 p.m. Saturday on Main Street. Fireworks are planned later at the Foster County Fairgrounds, around dusk.
Lake LaMoure will also have its annual Fourth of July fireworks at dusk.
In Nome, the community is celebrating both its 125th anniversary and America’s 250th with a full day of events, including kids activities, a tractor pull, a 2 p.m. parade, evening music, and fireworks around 10.
Bismarck’s Red, White and Boom starts at 6 p.m. at the MDU Resources Community Bowl, with free music and activities planned. The Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra will perform around 9 with fireworks planned after.
North Dakota’s biggest America 250 celebration continues in Medora through Sunday with the public opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, the Medora Musical, live entertainment, family activities, and a July Fourth drone show. Tickets are sold out for the 4th, but back open to the public on Sunday.
Inclement weather may impact events throughout the region, with the National Weather Service warning of at least scattered severe thunderstorms Friday through Sunday.
