Jamestown’s Frontier Village is receiving a significant upgrade: an $850,000 mini golf course project that will revamp the underutilized ampitheatre area beneath the World’s Largest Buffalo.

The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, Jamestown Tourism, and Jamestown Frontier Attractions held a groundbreaking ceremony for Bison Bend Mini Golf, where project leaders and local government spoke on how this project is more than just a fun game locals and tourists can play. Emily Bivens, executive director for the chamber, opened the ceremony. Luke Zimmer, the site supervisor for Frontier Village, spoke on this during his remarks to the audience: “My first thought when I heard about this audacious plan was not how awesome mini golf would be, but instead how this project would be a major building block in the ongoing project of Jamestown growth and development.” Zimmer said that the eighteen hole course is designed to educate players on local history.

Zimmer then introduced Jamestown’s new (and former) mayor, Katie Hemmer, on the eighth day of her term. She spoke on how busy she has been with the 2027 city budget and establishing relationships within the Jamestown area. The thanked the organizers for the invite to the groundbreaking, giving her some much needed respite from spreadsheets. “Mini golf is such a great example of exactly what we want the future of Jamestown Tourism to represent. A place where residents, neighbors, family friends, and, of course, visitors can come together and enjoy a family friendly activity for all ages and all abilities.”

Backed in part by a state $212,500 Destination Development Grant, organizers are currently seeking local support to meet their remaining funding goals. Vincent Kloubec, the chamber’s Membership Relations Manager, thanked Visitor Experience Manager Allison Limke for her leadership and direction alongside the JFA, and said “what resonates most deeply with me is the feeling that the future of this site has never been better.”
