Jamestown Regional Airport will temporarily close to commercial flights for two weeks in August.
The airport says all commercial and private aircraft will be forbidden from arriving or departing from Aug. 17 through Aug. 31 for scheduled runway construction and rehabilitation work.
Commercial arrivals and departures will be canceled during that time. Travelers with flights booked during the closure should contact United for alternate arrangements, schedule changes, or transportation options.
The project includes runway pavement improvements, safety markings, and related construction work.
Mayor Katie Hemmer, who also serves as the airport director, says the work may cause some inconvenience, but is meant to keep the runway safer and more reliable for passengers, pilots, and airport operations.
Jamestown Regional Airport expects to resume normal operations Sept. 1, unless the work is delayed by weather.
