ND Ethics Commission Probes Development Fund After Troubling Audit

Oct 29, 2026 | 8:30 PM

Jack Dura from the North Dakota Monitor reports that the Ethics Commission has launched an inquiry into a business financing program backed by the state.

The commission voted unanimously Wednesday in favor of the investigation, as a recent audit of the North Dakota Development fund found it is missing documentation for millions of dollars in transactions. The audit also uncovered inconsistent conflict-of-interest policy application.

Dura reports that this is the first time the commission has self-initiated an investigation. This comes after A.G. Drew Wrigley declined a legislative request to investigate. His reasoning in this was a legal conflict regarding an ongoing civil lawsuit, and that no one presented credible evidence of a crime.
