Collision Kills Oakes Woman
OAKES, ND – A pickup/semi collision south of Oakes, ND has claimed the life of an Oakes woman.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 37-year-old Liesa Hill was southbound on Highway 1 traveling from home to work at 9 a.m. Tuesday. She arrived at her place of work and turned left, crossing the opposite lane of the highway and into the path of an oncoming semi. The speed limit on that portion of Highway 1 is 65 miles per hour.

The Patrol says the semi driver, Eric Taylor, 28, of Britton, SD, attempted to stop the semi, but was unable to avoid the collision. Hill was taken to Oakes Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation.
