Cavalier Takes ND 9-man Title
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Ryan Chrest rushed for a record-setting 377 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Cavalier to a 54-6 win over Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn in the North Dakota 9-man championship football game Friday.
Chrest set a Dakota Bowl all-class record for rushing yards in a game and average yards per carry. He averaged 23.6 yards on 16 carries to lead the Tornadoes (11-0) to their fifth state title.
Chrest collected 296 yards and scored three touchdowns in the first half to help the Tornadoes take a 38-0 lead.
Brock Robbins picked up 62 yards rushing and two touchdowns and caught one pass for 15 yards.
Chase Walton finished with 80 yards rushing, including a 76-yard touchdown run in the second half.
Hunter Braaten scored the only touchdown for the Sioux (10-3) on a 20-yard run. He finished with 80 passing yards and rushed for 123 yards.
