Members of the North Dakota House voted against House Bill 1373. The bill would have defined a human being to include an unborn child in state laws relating to murder, assault and wrongful death lawsuits.

In an 87-6 vote, House Bill 1488 was taken down, which would have allowed women to receive abortions for any reason through week 15 of pregnancy in North Dakota. House Bill 1477 and 1478 would have sealed further protections for IVF procedures and contraception into state law. Both bills did not make it through the House.

The news comes after North Dakota’s abortion ban was officially repealed back in September, although the overturned abortion ban won’t be in effect while it is appealed in the state Supreme Court.
