A relatively dry winter means normal of flooding in western and central North Dakota this spring.
The National Weather Service says the James River Basin area, including Pipestem Creek in Pingree and the James River in Grace City and LaMoure, will have what they described as average chances of flooding. Snow pack equal to about an inch of water is on the ground, which means the dry soil is likely to soak up most of the runoff.
The NWS says there is are 16% chances of minor flooding in Pingree and LaMoure. Grace City has an 8% percent flood risk.
