Minot Mayor resigns after sending sexual material to City Attorney

Minot Mayor Tom Ross resigned shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday following an investigation into a harassment complaint filed January 28th by City Attorney Stefanie Stalheim. On January 14, Ross accidentally sent Stalheim a sexually explicit video meant for his girlfriend, mistakenly selecting “City Attorney” as the recipient instead of his partner whose name begins with ‘C’. Ross asked Stalheim to delete the video without viewing it, explaining it was intended for his girlfriend. After Stalheim reported the incident to HR, it was escalated to city management. Christina Sambor conducted the investigation, and a city council meeting was scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday.
